Medium Duty truck and Heavy Duty truck market seeing the strong competition between CKD manufacturers and CBU importers. Enterprise success or failure depends on its brand name, price, product quality and after sales service, four major factors. During 14 years (1996-2010) attaching with Vietnam market, Hino brand has gained customer’s trust, and Hino has never stopped improving to affirm its leading position so far. Though the short conversation between customers using Hino truck in their business, proved said above opinion.

On trip to South West area to survey some customers using Hino truck, we was surprise at a lot of operating trucks hurried on the road with good carried on or attractive painted freezer body ones branded Hino, both old model and new one.

To be a big firm in Soc Trang-Kingdom of seafood, specialize in seafood processing, Kim Anh Ltd having its head office near National Road No.1, Soc Trang City invested a lot near 60 units, major is freeze body for their business requirement in which nearly Hino brand occupied half.

The character of frozen food transportation is always keeping the cold level stable. The truck must be good, reliable in operation, no trouble on way otherwise influence to goods quality, delivery time and caused to big loss due to compensation, influence to company’s prestige with partners, especial with foreign partner. Responding to the important role of after sales service, Mr. Hoang Phi added: “After sales service is very important activity because driver sometime busy and they can’t remember exactly periodical maintance or replacement, beside they need technical consult to operate in right way as well. Making after sales service well also having a part in enhance product longevity, create customer’s trust in product quality and brand prestige as well. As our trucks has being taken care by Truong Long carefully. Their service department usually calls to ask about the condition of trucks, remind us of the filter replacement period and periodical maintance…”

In the other story with Mr. Nguyen Duy Hai, representative of Hoa Lam transportation service and trading Co (HCMC), specialize in supplying North-South transportation service for some big firm like Tan Hiep Phat, Tribeco, Nestle, Honda, Yamaha…

Different with character of frozen food transportation of Kim Anh Company, Hoa Lam’s truck operate on North-South route round trip, continuously. Their truck team with tens of unit major is tractor head but still purchase 6 units of Hino newest model for luxury goods transportation is Honda and Yamaha bike.

According to Mr. Hai, price is major factor in transportation service and in order to gain an advantage over others about price, round trip efficient operate is a must. After then is ability of services supplied such as: keep delivery time, prestige, safety for goods. Beside, customer is interested in transportation ability as per requested, for example: the number of proprietary vehicles, type, payload….
